February 19, 2020, Indian River County received an Age-Friendly designation from AARP. This is a commitment of our County to create a livable community for all ages in our area. The Senior Collaborative working as the lead agency, with the assistance of many organizations and individuals is beginning a 5-year process to make Indian River County more of what community residents want and need now and for the future. The planning phase consisting of community assessment and creation of an action plan is 1-2 years, followed by implementation and evaluation in years 3-5. The assessment will be looking at eight domains including;

1. Housing
2. Transportation
3. Outdoor spaces & buildings
4. Civic participation & employment
5. Social participation
6. Respect & inclusion
7. Community support & health services and 
8. Communication & information.
